While most hotel designs focus on the interior, leaving the exterior bland and featureless, the façade of the Renaissance Hotel in Bangkok,Thailand explodes with color. The Vanceva® color system for laminated glass was used in many aspects of the exterior design, from the façade itself to the outdoor lighting. An intense sapphire blue illuminates the entrance, while lighting in the parking garage features a brilliant yellow. Another overarching feature of the laminated glass design was the implementation of an emblematic pattern, the Cassia Fistula. Known as the national flower of Thailand, the flower’s silhouette was simplified and repeated in many of the glass elements of the hotel’s exterior. The use of this symbolic motif helps to combine the hotel’s urban modernity with local flavor.
